One of Gill’s favourite memories from school is of that time at the end of the day when the teacher would tell the class they could ‘Take a Line for a Walk’ This involved taking a lead pencil and, without taking it off the page, they would draw a swirling, flowing, overlapping shape which they would then fill with pattern and colour.
Gill’s love of drawing started there and has developed into a design career. After completing a degree in textile design at The Scottish College of Textiles, Gill has been designing and illustrating for the fashion and furnishings industry for the last 18 years. Line for a walk started as a personal project to create art or herself and has evolved to where it is today.
Gill’s work still starts by taking a line for a walk.
